Spinal Flow Therapy

The power to heal is inside all of us
— Dr Carli Axford

What is Spinal Flow?

Spinal Flow is a gentle, hands-on therapy that works with the spine and nervous system to help the body release stored stress and tension.

Developed by Dr. Carli Axford, this approach is based on the understanding that the spine and nervous system are the body’s main communication pathways. When stress—whether physical, emotional, or chemical—gets “stuck” in the body, it can create blockages that interfere with how the body functions and heals.

Using light contacts at specific points along the spine and sacrum, a practitioner helps the body release these blockages and restore natural movement, regulation, and flow through the nervous system.

Rather than forcing change, Spinal Flow works by activating the body’s own innate ability to heal—supporting a shift from stress and tension into a more balanced, regulated state.

What Can Spinal Flow Help With?

Spinal Flow doesn’t treat specific conditions in isolation—it supports the nervous system, which influences every system in the body. That said, many people seek it out for:

Physical concerns

  • Back, neck, and joint pain

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Sciatica and nerve-related pain

  • Postural tension and stiffness

  • Fatigue and low energy

Stress & nervous system regulation

  • Chronic stress and burnout

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Poor sleep or restlessness

  • Difficulty relaxing or “switching off”

Whole-body & internal health

  • Digestive issues (bloating, IBS, reflux)

  • Hormonal or reproductive concerns

  • Immune system support

  • General feelings of being “run down”

Emotional & mental wellbeing

  • Emotional tension held in the body

  • Brain fog or lack of clarity

  • Feeling disconnected from your body

  • Mood fluctuations

Why Try Spinal Flow?

Because sometimes the body doesn’t need more force… it needs the right signal.

Spinal Flow is ideal if you:

  • Have tried other treatments but feel like something is still “stuck”

  • Know your stress is showing up physically in your body

  • Want a nervous-system-first approach to healing

  • Prefer gentle, non-invasive care

  • Are looking for something that connects the body, brain, and stress response

Clients often report:

  • Feeling deeply relaxed during and after sessions

  • Improved mobility and less tension

  • Better sleep and energy

  • A greater sense of calm, clarity, and connection to their body

At its core, Spinal Flow helps your body do what it’s designed to do—adapt, regulate, and heal—without forcing it.

What to Expect During Your First Spinal Flow Session

Think of this as less “treatment”… and more like a conversation with your nervous system.

Your first visit starts with a short intake where we look at what’s been going on in your body—pain, stress, injuries, digestion, sleep, or anything else that feels “off.” This helps us understand where your system may be holding tension or not adapting well.

From there, you’ll lie fully clothed on the treatment table.

Using very light contacts along specific points of the spine and sacrum, the practitioner works with your nervous system to help identify and release areas of stored stress. There’s no cracking, forcing, or aggressive techniques.

What you might notice during a session:

  • Gentle waves, twitches, or movement in the body

  • Deep relaxation (some people fall asleep)

  • Emotional release or a sense of “letting go”

  • Subtle shifts in breathing or tension

Every experience is a little different—because your body leads the process.

After your session, we’ll go over what showed up and what your body is working through, along with recommendations for care moving forward.
